What Care Log stores
- The name of the log and if it is for a baby or a pet.
- Each entry: the type, the time, and the amount, the detail and the note if you add them.
- A secret key, kept as a fingerprint (a SHA-256 hash). The server cannot read the key.
The name and the notes are text that you write. Do not write more than you want the other caregivers to see.
Where, and for how long
Each phone keeps a copy of the log in the browser (IndexedDB and local storage). The server keeps the log in a Cloudflare D1 database. The server deletes a log, with all its entries, when the log gets no new entry or change for 365 days. You can delete the log for everyone sooner, in the settings of the log. You can also remove the log from one phone only.
Who can see a log
Anyone who has the secret link can see the log and change it. Send the link only to people you trust. Log pages are hidden from search engines. We cannot send you the link again if you lose it. Keep the link, or keep the log open on a phone.
The secret link
The link has a secret key after the # sign. Browsers do not send that part when they open a page. The page reads the key. It sends the key to this site in a header each time it syncs. Only people with the link can use the log. Your phone also keeps the key in local storage, so the log opens again later.
What Care Log does not do
- No account, and no email address.
- No ads.
- No cookies from Care Log.
- The server does not store IP addresses, and our logs do not hold them.
- If the page has an error, it sends an error report. The report has no name, no note and no key.
Cloudflare, which hosts this site, may count page views with Cloudflare Web Analytics. It does not use cookies for this.
Not health advice
Care Log is a notebook. It gives no advice. Ask a doctor, a nurse or a vet when you have a question about health.
